About
FitHackr is a collection of high protein, macro friendly recipes to help you get and stay fit while eating your favorite foods, plus practical guides to the macro tracking that goes with them.
What you’ll find here
Recipes. Higher protein takes on comfort food: cookies, muffins, soft pretzels, mozzarella sticks, fried pickles, pizza, a fried chicken biscuit sandwich, baked oats and protein milkshakes. Ingredients are listed mostly by weight in grams, and most recipes include nutrition facts per serving so you can log them accurately. Browse them all on the recipes page.
Guides. Articles on the basics behind the recipes:
- How to Track Macros 101: what protein, carbs and fat are, how to set your daily macro goals, and the common pitfalls.
- What is TDEE?: what makes up your Total Daily Energy Expenditure, how to estimate it, and how to use it to lose weight or gain muscle.
- Make It Fit Your Macros: our approach to IIFYM and flexible dieting.
- Weighing Food Raw vs Cooked: why weighing your food matters, and whether to weigh it before or after cooking.
Who it’s for
Anyone who tracks macros, or wants to start, and is tired of choosing between hitting their numbers and eating food they enjoy. Whether your goal is to lose weight, gain weight or build muscle, the recipes and guides are meant to make the day-to-day part easier.
Our approach
We call it Make It Fit Your Macros. Classic IIFYM says any food is fine as long as it fits your numbers. We’d rather modify the foods you crave so they fit, and still favor nutritious ingredients, because micronutrients matter as much as macros.
A few things we keep coming back to:
- Weigh your food. Weighing is what matters most. Raw or cooked is largely personal preference, though weighing raw tends to be more accurate and consistent.
- Estimates are starting points. TDEE and macro targets are estimates. Track your progress and adjust as you go.
- Don’t be too hard on yourself. Everyone slips up. Get back on track the next day and keep moving forward.
